Whether we like it or not, we live in a fast-paced world – and a lot of us seek out convenience when we eat and shop in order to cram just a little more into our days. If that never-ending search for balance sounds familiar, then you’ll want to know about Broadbeach’s latest addition, Urban Foodstore – a cafe-meets-marketplace that puts everything from specialty coffee and savoury pancakes to organic face cream under one roof.
Tucked beneath The Phoenician building in the heart of bustling Surf Parade, Urban Foodstore essentially combines cafe-style dining and fresh, healthy on-the-go eats with a curated selection of everyday shopping essentials. You can swing past for a smoothie (which are all vegan), an acai bowl or coconut soft-serve, settle in for a hearty weekend breakfast or long lunch, or a grab a house-made sandwich, a few pieces of fruit and an on-tap kombucha on your way back to the office. While you’re at it, you can get yourself a litre of almond milk for the fridge at home, some organic snacks for the cupboard, and take home a Byron Bay Pizza Co. Margherita for dinner. Dang, you’re out of toothpaste? You can get that too (and it’s all natural).
Urban Foodstore also offers an all-day menu of breakfast, brunch and lunch eats with an intentionally healthy lean. Everything, from the sauces to the sourdough bread, is made on site. You can tuck into a decadent French toast arrangement with fresh fruit and vegan coconut soft-serve, a Benny Bagel with lashings of housemade hollandaise, or crispy hash-brown haystacks made with pumpkin and sweetcorn. If you’re hunting to try something different, satisfy your curious side with the salted savoury buckwheat pancakes, which are topped with fresh mozzarella, basil oil, beetroot hommus, walnut, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, grape, radish and lime. To sip? There’s Allpress coffee pouring, kombucha and kefir on tap, organic nitro coffee, fresh juices, and plenty of coffee alternatives.
